Meet Elena Grudzinskaitė — associate professor and head of Graphic Art at Vilnius Academy of Arts — as she works in Munk Print Lab and shares her artistic process.

Hear how she investigates the landscape and the environment through the media of printmaking as well as transforms archival fragments and studio leftovers into new works — and how sustainability of ideas becomes a method, not just a theme.

About the residency and exhibition
Working at Munk Print Lab 16-20 of March, Elena Grudzinskaitė will develop the Paper on Paper project with the paper material from the print lab studio.

The residence will be a way of collaboration between the studios, the artists, exploration of the environment through the medium of paper.

About the artist
Elena Grudzinskaitė (b. 1987, based in Vilnius) graduated from Master of Graphic Art at Vilnius Academy of Arts in 2012, works as an associate professor and the head of Graphic Art Department at VAA. Is a member of the Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Artists’ Association.

She has been participating in local and international art scene since 2010, has presented 9 solo shows, alongside, she organizes projects promoting graphic art and curate visual art shows. Works are in the MO Museum in Vilinius and in private collections.

Artist statement
In her artistic practice, Grudzinskaitė explores the relationship between the individual and their surrounding environment, as well as its transformation over time. She uses graphic art and printmaking as a means to investigate temporal parameters, fragility, and continuity.

Her works document indirect landscapes shaped by repetitive actions, everyday routines, and recurring practices, which become a field for reflection and artistic experimentation.
